When I was on tour with ROCK OF AGES, a few of my friends adopted the phrase “Dance about it” when talking about going to the club to release some tension, let loose, get a little stupid, and have fun.  E.g.: “Q: What do you want to do tonight?  A: You know, I could dance about it tonight…”  So when I started my new dance class at Equinox in December, it was only natural to call it DANCE ABOUT IT.  It’s a place to let loose, have fun, and give yourself a break from taking yourself so seriously!  AND it’s also about telling a story.  Even at the gym, we can tell a story through dance, and that is the piece I love most.  I’ve only been teaching this class for a month and a half, but already, I’m in love.  With the people who show up, with the challenge it presents to me to create frequent and accessible work, and with the familiarity of the club that I have called home for almost 5 years.

Last night in class we did a fun hip hop routine to Mac Miller’s “Party on Fifth Ave” and it was so much fun that I just had to ask a few peeps to stay after class and record it with me!  Here it is, and I hope you enjoy!  Leave a comment to let me know if you like, and if you ever want to try out the class, let me know!
