If you’re anything like me, you are on your feet a LOT.  Working out or walking to work, dancing barefoot or in heels, no matter what we do, we all have to stand on our own two feet. We put our entire body weight there all day long.  Without them, we’d have no balance at all.  There are SO many joints and muscles there, and they can get messed up (and stressed out) easily.

What you may not know is that the sole of the foot is basically a road map of the rest of your body- there are pressure points down there for everything from your lungs to your lymph nodes, and everything in between.  Check out this diagram and see for yourself!

Sometimes in order to improve our wellness, all we need is some good ol’ DIY reflexology.  Enter the trusty tennis ball!  Pick a few up at the drugstore or your local sporting goods store.  Then, just throw that puppy down on the floor, take off your shoes, and, while standing, place your foot on the ball and start to roll it around while putting as much weight on it as you can.  You’ll immediately see where the tension has built up… when you hit a tender spot, simply pause there and take a few deep breaths, then continue rolling the foot on the ball until you’re ready to switch.  If you have a specific ailment, just refer to the chart, and give a little more love in that area.

Once you’re done with your foot rolling, you’ll find you’re able to articulate through those feet so much more beautifully than you could before.  We talk about articulating through your feet in week two of Don’t Dodge the Dance Call… it really makes you feel like a dancer when you know how to do it, and it’s so easy to learn.
